THE MYSTIC WHIP is an attempt at defining mysticism through  images, objects, and sound. It is a study of the elements that comprise a mystical experience and methods of inducing such a moment. The name refers to a sacred weapon created by means of alchemy, which plays a particular role in this inquiry due to its pursuit of transforming materials.

Alex Lee Harris was born in Daejeon, South Korea, in 1982. She received her BS from NYU (2004) and her MFA from UCLA (2008). Harris has spent the last year in California, Connecticut, and New York.  She was recently an artist in residence at Denniston Hill, located in Woodridge, NY.
